If you’re looking for used trucks for sale, then Ryan Chevrolet is the place to visit, as we have plenty of used Chevy Silverado 1500 options. We’ve long felt that the Silverado 1500 is the ideal truck for drivers in the Monroe area, thanks to this pickup’s power and tech. Whether you’re driving for work or recreation, a Silverado 1500 will have you traveling around in style and with the comfort of knowing you can accomplish any mission you’ve set for the day. By opting for a used Silverado 1500, you’ll save money while still assuring yourself of incredible capability, great engine options (including a diesel one), and gorgeous looks that’ll leave your neighbors envious.

Today, we wanted to explore some of the benefits of the Silverado’s fourth generation of trucks, a generation that began with the 2019 model. This pickup classic received a refreshed look while still retaining its famed allure. It remains the epitome of the American truck but now has a sleeker, flashier sense of style. The fourth generation came out of the gate offering some serious upgrades and gained even more along the way. If you’re looking for that perfect used truck, a fourth-generation Chevy Silverado 1500 will have you driving home happy and showing up to work in a truck better than everyone else’s.

More Off-Road Capability

When the 2019 generation started, the Silverado 1500 came with a new trim: the LT Trail Boss. This trim’s name tells you the story: you’re conquering the off-road with ease. You don’t have to keep to the highway as you traverse Louisiana if you’re in any trim of the Silverado, but the LT Trail Boss has a higher suspension, automatic locking rear differential, and 18-inch wheels so that even the most rugged or muddy terrain of our state isn’t off limits. We all know some of Louisiana’s backstreets can be rough to drive down; with an LT Trail Boss, you’ll never have to break a sweat no matter how out of the way you’re driving that day.

However, for those who spend more time driving through mud than over pavement, the Silverado 1500 received a new trim in 2022 that will be to your interest: the ZR2. This special trim comes with 33-inch mud tires, off-road chassis and suspension calibrations, high-quality aluminum skid plates, and plenty more. Not only will you be able to blast forward even when the terrain is challenging, but you’ll also be able to do so while knowing your Silverado’s underbody is built to withstand heavier impacts and rocky terrain thanks to its suspension and skid plates.

A Powerful Diesel Engine

Prior to the fourth generation of the Silverado 1500, only heavy-duty Silverado pickups came with a diesel option. This changed in 2020, with that year’s Silverado 1500 model offering pickup drivers the option to hit the roads with a Duramax I-6 diesel engine (later models even increased the diesel engine’s horsepower and torque). Diesel engines offer Louisiana drivers a lot of benefits. For instance, if you’re often traversing our state, a diesel engine can provide better fuel efficiency in the long run; due to its higher efficiency, you can save money if you regularly drive long distances and plan to have it for many years ahead.

The Duramax diesel engine also allows drivers to tow the maximum capacities for each model year. If you’re someone who wants to be able to tow over 13,000 lbs, the diesel engine, with the proper hitch equipment, is the one that’ll allow you to do it best. You’ll be cruising down the road with peace of mind even if you have a camper or a boat trailered to your truck. Depending upon the model year you go with, you can have the ability to tow up to 13,300 lbs, which will make certain there’s no mission for work you can’t accomplish, and you’ll find that what you can do on vacation will greatly expand. Suddenly bringing a boat to the lake or a large camper to a secluded destination becomes a reality instead of a dream.

The Addition of the Multi-Flex Tailgate

For the 2021 model year, the Silverado 1500 saw a unique addition: the Multi-Flex Tailgate. At first glance, this might not seem like much, but don’t be fooled: this tailgate can make your life a heck of a lot easier, especially if you’re someone who uses your truck bed for labor on a regular basis. You can have the gate fold down into a step to make access to the truck bed far easier. Even better, this step can hold up to 375 lbs, which means in most cases you won’t have to worry as you load your materials onto the Silverado because the step’s firmness will support you.

The tailgate can also be manipulated with ease. For instance, you can fold down the inner gate so you have an easier time reaching in, or you can have the gate become a load stop to prevent any items from rolling out of your bed as you continue to pile in what you need for your trek. If you’re planning to work at a remote destination, you’ll be happy that your inner gate comes with a workstation perfect for a laptop (and you can get a Silverado with an outlet, too) or laying out tools. The Multi-Flex Tailgate has become a favorite with customers and is a big reason for the fourth generation’s continued success.

Drive Mode Selector

The fourth generation of the Silverado 1500 comes with a Drive Mode Selector and has done so since its initial model year. This allows the Silverado to adjust to the conditions on the road, so that every trip you make counts as a success. There are six drive modes available in total, but which ones a specific Silverado 1500 comes with will depend on its trim; the higher the trim, the more likely it is to have additional drive modes.

So, what are these modes? Ones like Sport mode change the engine so it performs at a higher rate and allows for quicker acceleration on dry surfaces. In short: you’ll feel an extra kick when you hit the gas. Off-Road mode provides, you guessed it, better steering and control when you’re venturing off-road. Your accelerator pedal will be tuned for the rougher terrain, and you’ll find your stability and traction systems improve, too. Other modes include Normal, Snow/Ice, Tow/Haul, and Terrain, giving you a lot of options regarding your driving experience.
